PLYMOUTH - The inspiration for the new domestic violence awareness campaign at Plymouth South High School dates to Plymouth County Sheriff Joseph McDonald's days as a prosecutor.
After winning a case, even after the victim joined in her husband's defense, McDonald realized he'd probably heard a thousand reasons for domestic violence, but never found any excuse.
McDonald recalled the case during the annual "white ribbon" domestic violence assembly at the high school last winter and the school's marketing students took it from there.
Before the year ended, freshmen and sophomores in the school's marketing program were engaged in a contest to design the best T-shirt around the "1000 Reasons, No Excuses" theme.
McDonald and District Attorney Timothy Cruz unveiled the winning entry last week at a private gathering for marketing students, held at the county jail's administrative offices.
